Animation 101: A Comparative Look at Western and Japanese Animation

Western-produced anime has seen countless improvements for the past years. However, many still believe that such animation is never at par with Japanese anime in various ways. Many people who watch free anime noticed that most cartoon series produced by US artists entirely cater to young audiences which made them possible to penetrate the Japanese market. Some shows that cater to kids are substantial enough to touch on the adult audiences as well. Such example is the Avatar: The Last Airbender, Adventure Time, and Life as Told by Ginger.

However, despite the success of such animated series, Japanese anime still dominates the animation industry worldwide. How exactly does anime manage to surpass all the others?

In terms of aesthetics and design, western cartoon series are known for their seemingly Flash-based animation rather than real animation.

Many believe that after the popularity of South Park, which showcased the sophisticated new tools of animation, most cartoons produced were not of the same tier.

On the other hand, anime artists in Japan experimented on several techniques which led to innovations in terms of digital animation. The budget for each anime is quite evident on screen as the quality speaks for itself. Compared with the Flash-based animation of western countries, anime is starkly different from character animations of its western counterparts.

Subsequently, many who watch free anime consider in-depth plots as another distinctive feature.

Most cartoons prevalent in western countries display neutral content, mostly because the target audiences are children. Anime, on the other hand, touch on critical social issues such as environmental preservation, violence, and gender equality.

Such topics are dealt with high sensitivity by integrating (but not masking) issues through peer pressure, elderly care, and school life. Moreover, the creative teams of anime production houses tackle the issue of war through cause and effect. These types of themes are rarely seen in western animation, as they seem too precarious for kids.

Moreover, many believe that western animation still pales in comparison with Japanese animation in terms of character development. Most western animations are adventure series in nature that focuses on the conventions and formula of their genre. This therefore hinders the growth of individual characters because they are developed as a group.

Lastly, people who watch free anime can easily see the equal treatment of the characters. The series builds the supporting characters through interactions with the lead while giving them individual challenges to overcome.

Beginning Eras of Anime (Japanese Animation)

Article by Craig Lodge

Anime, or Japanese Animation, had its start in the beginning of the 20th century. Anime is Japan’s competitor against the high-budget Hollywood in America; Anime allowed Japan to create films under tight budgets and without location restrictions.

First Era of AnimeRecently discovered in 2005, the earliest known Anime was created around 1917; it consisted of 50 frames sketched onto a strip of celluloid. The clip is about 3 seconds in length and depicts a young boy donning a sailor suit writing the kanji for moving pictures (katsudou shashin) on a board. He then turns toward the viewer, removes his hat and salutes. It is unknown who created the clip. This is one of the few complete clips that have survived from this period of animation. One of the reasons for the demise of most clips was due to these reels being sold to smaller cinemas – after they had their run – and being disassembled to be sold as strips or frames. One of the pioneers of early animation was Kitayama Seitaro; he used a chalkboard method technique and eventually moved onto paper animation, sometimes using pre-printed backgrounds. Kitayama Seitaro went on to start his own animation studio called Kitayama Eiga Seisakujo which eventually closed down due to lack of financial success.

Second Era of AnimeKitayama Seitaro had several influential students while his film studio was still in operation. Ofuji Noboro, Yamamoto Sanae, Kimura Hakuzan and Murato Yosuji were his most influential students during the late 1910′s and early 1920′s. The Great Kantou earthquake in 1923 destroyed most of Seitaro’s studio. With Seitaro’s studio destroyed and knowing how lucrative animation production can be, the students spread throughout Japan and founded their own studios.

During this era, the Monbusho (Ministry of Education) began supporting and encouraging films that contained educational value. This created a high demand for animation films and created a lasting place in academic, political and business use.

The War Era of AnimeWhen the Japanese government began enforcing its policy of strict nationalism in the 1930′s, strict control and censorship of all published media began to shape the Anime landscape. Animators were pushed to create films which promulgated the Japanese spirit and national affiliation. The films were shown in News-Cinemas and as News-Cinemas boomed, so did these Anime films.Disney played an important role in molding the Anime of the era. Due to the lack of financial backing of animation studios, Japanese animators fell short of producing the same quality as Disney and were often pale in comparison. Also at this time many of the smaller studios closed or were merged with larger studios – by the end of this period only 3 large studios remained. The merging of production companies allowed for bigger projects, which gave Anime a leg of its own to stand on.Momotaro’s Divine Sea Warriors is the first notable animation of length made in Japan. After the war, the rapid economic success of Japan allowed Japan to emerge as a world leader in animation. Today Anime is one of the biggest industries for Japan.

Download Naruto To Know Japanese Animation Better

Article by Hamon Brown

The word ‘anime’ is quite popular, not only in Japan, but the entire world. One mention of the word, and you can imagine a wide range of cartoon anime series available on television. However, when someone is asked to define anime, they would simply say that they are Japanese cartoons. However, when you get a Naruto download, you will know how Japanese cartoons differ from normal American cartoons.

Anime television series and anime films have been specifically derived from Japanese manga. Manga is another name for comics in Japanese. But the characteristics of a manga are quite different from a normal comic. In fact, a manga becomes famous for its own unique style, like you can see in naruto episodes .

The main difference between a manga and a comic is the characters themselves. The characters of a manga have exceptionally large eyes which grow larger to express emotions like fear or excitement. The other features like nose and mouth are comparatively smaller than the eyes. You should watch naruto online to witness such traits yourself!

The hairstyles and hair color of the characters are quite unique and away from realism. The hair may be long and spiky, but are never portrayed in their natural brown or black color. They may be depicted in pink, magenta, blue or green or any other color. Blonde is also rarely used. The clothes of anime characters are very unconventional and unusual. They may depict a highly stylish version of Japanese school uniform. If you download Naruto, you will find that the dresses are designed like those of samurai warriors or feudal lords.

There are still other costumes derived from the Victorian or the Renaissance era of the West. Whatever the style of the clothes may be, they are always quite colorful and multi layered with a uniqueness of there own. The background scenes are always quite detailed and colorful in an anime. If the action has to take place in a dark place, the entire city is colored in shades of red and black, with ominously looming landscapes. That is also one of the characteristics of the series, when you get a naruto download .

Japanese animation is different from American cartoons, as they are portrayed in a series and not in separate stories like the American cartoons. The series have a unique plotline and an ending full of suspense. Japanese anime characters depict real, human characteristics and do not give the feeling of seeing a cartoon. The heroes are not always good and the villains not always bad. Also, heroes may die in the end of the series! You can catch Naruto episodes and compare it with any other series to find further differences.

Naruto is good anime manga series. I am massive fan of Naruto Episodes. Here you can download naruto episodes and so on TV Shows.Even You can also watch naruto online.
